Resource Centre

The RICE Resource Centre is situated in the RICE building in Port Augusta.

It houses a huge range of educational games and toys to promote fun, creativity and play. The centre provides members with a range of toys, games, books and puzzles to borrow.

There are 3 main parts to the RICE Resource Centre: Resource Centre, Travelling Resources and Parent Resources.

Available Resources

  • The Resource Centre includes a variety of books, puzzles, board games, construction, role play, farm barns and animals, shopping and kitchen play items, science activities, baby & toddler toys and much more. Items in the Resource Centre are for children up to 12 years old.

Also included in the Resource Centre is a “Hospital Kit’ with books, role play items, information, and activity sheets if a child has a stay in hospital and a “New Sibling Kit” with books, doll, baby bath, bassinet etc to help ease children into having a new baby in the house.

  • The Travelling Resource section has a variety of outdoor sport equipment, water play, construction, dress ups, puppets, art and craft, dolls and role play items. These are mainly used by staff for Outback Childcare placements, Creches, Playdays and Activity Days.
  • Parent Resources include a variety of books, DVD’s and CD’s for parents to borrow. Topics include: Child development, Babies and toddlers, Pregnancy and Childbirth, Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Personal Development and General interest.

All resources can be borrowed for up to two months, by contacting the RICE Resource Educator. Resources can be returned to RICE with a RICE reply paid label at no cost to the borrower.
